Small amount - big power
Scientists use the term 'vitamin A' to describe a group of fat-soluble compounds with a similar chemical structure and comparable effects on the human body. One of these substances is retinol, which shows typical 'vitamin A effects' even at very low doses.
As our grandmothers already knew, our eyes are dependent on a sufficient supply of vitamin A. It is no coincidence that the words retina and retinol are related! What many people don't know: Retinol has immense potential when it comes to skincare! Vitamin A protects our tissue from attacking germs and environmental pollution. It works closely with growth hormone, which regenerates our cells overnight. These repair features make retinol the perfect ingredient for skincare and beauty products.
Serums with retinol (e.g. HYPER G[L]O Renewing Night Serum) counteract the premature ageing process. Contrary to popular belief, skin ageing does not start with the menopause, but as early as the 20s. The active ingredient strengthens the natural skin barrier, slows down the breakdown of collagen and stimulates the formation of elastic fibers. The super substance also helps with acne, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.
Vitamin A as a beauty turbo: stressed, aged skin becomes clearer, thicker, smoother and firmer. Small wrinkles and spots disappear.
Retinol treatments - does a lot really help a lot?
In a 2017 guideline, the GD Gesellschaft für Dermopharmazie e.V. cites several scientific studies that underpin the positive effects of vitamin A in terms of anti-ageing and skin care. However, the experts point out that the concentration of the active ingredient must match the skin's actual requirements. In unfavorable cases, overdosing can lead to an undesirable reversal of effects.
