Skin Purging - Pure...what???

Skin Purging - Pure...what???

You've bought a new skincare or cleansing product and suddenly it seems as if your skin is fighting it tooth and nail. Pimples and redness are always inconvenient, but right now? You just wanted to do something good for your skin. We want to explain what is known as skin purging in more detail so that you can make the right decision when it comes to choosing a product.

Pur... what???
Skin purging is not a very common term in this country, although most of us have probably experienced it ourselves. But then we were probably talking about skin inflammation or acne. Purging, however, translates as cleansing. Strictly speaking, it is a process in which the cell renewal of the skin is accelerated. This results in blackheads, which appear as white spots on the skin. Light and dark skin types are equally affected, although blackheads appear slightly different on darker skin and tend to appear reddish.

Getting to the bottom of purging
Purging usually starts when you buy a new product that promises to be effective, e.g. for treating acne. These are often products that contain retinoids or hydroxy acids, which accelerate cell renewal. Even with our HYPER G[L]O Serum or [W]ASH AWAY Cleanser, in rare cases the skin may react with irritation at the beginning.

Great, you're looking forward to an improved complexion only to realize with horror when you look in the mirror after a few treatments that you have more spots than before. Chemical peels or laser treatments can also lead to purging, even though they are intended to refine the skin's appearance. However, there is a logical explanation for this.

Stress for the skin
The reason for purging is that certain products or treatments put the skin more or less in a state of stress because new cells are suddenly produced particularly quickly and old ones are broken down. This often happens when the skin's protective barrier is already impaired before the application begins, e.g. in the case of dry, cracked skin or acne. Underlying skin impurities, which may not appear for 1-2 weeks, are brought to the surface directly during purging.

Persevere and calm down
However, there is no reason to worry. The fact is that the skin gets used to the active ingredients after a while. Normally, you only have to hold out for just under two weeks until the signs of purging subside. During this time, your skin can adapt its protective shield and then the ingredients of the new product can take effect. You should therefore not always immediately curse creams, cleansing gels and the like if they cause a deterioration in the appearance of your skin. Support your skin in building up its natural protective shield with soothing care and plenty of moisture, e.g. with [CUP]U RAW pamper your body with a healthy diet, drink plenty of water or unsweetened tea and spend lots of time in the fresh air - and voilá, purging will soon be a thing of the past and your skin will glow again.
